St Jude Chapel is located on Main St. in Downtown Dallas. The chapel became a reality with its opening on April 29, 1968. Dedicated on September 15, 1968, the chapel is the full realization of a dream nurtured in the loving hearts of Arthur C. Hughes and a few of his friends, for more than a quarter of a century.

The mission of St. Jude Chapel is to maintain a Catholic presence in downtown Dallas to serve the business community, the residents, and visitors with daily Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation, as well as a gift shop for religious articles and candles. The chapel is dedicated to Saint Jude, patron of hopeless cases, and people of all denominations are encouraged to use the chapel for prayer and meditation and to ask St. Jude to intercede for them so that their spiritual needs can be met. 

Architecture + Design
With a seating capacity of 350, the chapel is arranged so everyone is quite close to the sanctuary, the heart of the chapel. The altars with their appointments, as well as all the marble work, come from Italy, in the Carrera mountains. The mosaic of the Risen Christ emphasizes the foundation note of Christianity - as He has risen so will we. The statue of Mary, (Regina Mundi - Queen of the Universe), and of Saint Jude, patron of the chapel, are enshrined on two of the chapel walls. Stained glass windows, as the Fourteen Stations of the Cross, relate the suffering and death of Our Lord, a death that brought life to us all as He rose from the dead. Twelve panels in the communion rail commemorate the apostles through centuries-old symbols. The baldacchino draws attention to the center of worship, placed as it is over the altar. The modern mosaic over the front entrance was designed by Gyorgy Kepes. A Sunburst in brilliant color, it portrays the glory of the Son of God from Whom comes life and sustenance.

Spiritual Community
Those using the facilities of Saint Jude Chapel are of all faiths, or of no faith… they say… yet faith surely abides in the deepest secret passages of the hearts of all who come to kneel before Christ, the King. They have known the healing balm of precious moments spent in silent meditation on the things of the spirit and have learned it is all important to their well-being.
